Happy Holidays!!!!

May is a month of holidays.  Last week was International Labor Day.  I was surprised how many people had to work both of the 2 days off.  Then this week there is another 2 days off for Victory Day/Veteran’s Day. Of course, so that people could have the days off, they had to work last Saturday and maybe Sunday.

Today is Victory Day/Veteran’s Day.  It is a very big holiday.  Maybe it is because much of Hitler’s advance to take Russia was through Ukraine.  They paid a high price during the war. I had forgotten for a moment that it was a holiday until I was sitting on the metro.  The young man sitting next to me got up so an old man, wearing his army medals, could sit down.  Today is the day for all the older veterans, men and women, to wear their medals on their clothes.

They are having a lot of activities in the center of town today and concerts. They will finish out the night with fireworks. (You can’t have a celebration without fireworks.)  I wish I had had my camera today to take some pictures to show you but I didn’t think about it. I celebrated the day by going to the Baby Orphanage.  The babies/children were happy  that I did. In the evening a friend came over and we made pizza and walked several miles around the center of town.  Lots of youth were   celebrating all around.  My friend made the comment that the older folks were celebrating because of their victory over Hilter’s grip.  The young people were just out for a party. Like the Isrealites how quickly the next generations forget.
